The 23rd Book Festival Budapest begins today with neighboring Slovakia as the guest of honor. Many authors who have appeared in B O D Y and Literalab will be present, including Uršula Kovalyk, Viťo Staviarsky, Pavel Vilikovský, Jana Juráňová and Slovak translator Julia Sherwood.
The festival includes a First Novel festival comprising 16 European writers among which is the inimitable Velina Minkoff, who has work in the just-released Bulgarian issue of Drunken Boat.
There are also, of course, numerous Hungarian writers participating in the festival, such as B O D Y-published Gábor Schein.
The festival program looks quite interesting but what I like best is that besides a download link and a generic audience photo, the only thing on the website program page are the words: “We reserve the right to change the programme.” That doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
